SASCA’s aim is to prevent poverty and improve people’s quality of life by providing advocacy, support and advice
SASCA’s Services
- SASCA supports people to navigate complex UK administrative systems, dealing with welfare rights, personal finance (debt, credit, banking), housing (private and social landlords) and issues with utilities (gas, water, electricity).
- SASCA runs a mental health service, offering a peer support group and 1:1 sessions delivered by our trained counsellor.
- SASCA supports the housebound and socially isolated by running an outreach service, offering home visits and longer term care.
We are located in an accessible office in the heart of Moss Side with good transport links. Our clients predominantly come from central Manchester (Moss Side, Hulme, Rusholme, Longsight), although we also reach people from across North and South Manchester. As a Somali led organisation, the people we work with are generally of Somali heritage, although we never turn anyone away. Often other migrants from Africa visit SASCA because our staff speak several languages, and they can interpret/translate for them. SASCA responds to the needs of the Somali community. We regularly engage with the community, and our staff and volunteers live and work in the community.
Our strategic direction is structured around actively building partnerships and alliances, to develop inclusive services, which have an understanding of the needs of Somali people. Our work allows us to act as a bridge between the community and the services they need. Without SASCA mainstream services would not be able to connect with the Somali community.
